Caribou Auto Refinance Review: Rates from 4.39%, Pros & Cons (YEAR)

Terrible service. Total waste of your time. They can't communicate properly and never call back like they promise. The person helping me clearly didn't care at all about the problems I had completing my transaction.

Excellent experience

Really smooth experience that was pretty straightforward to get through. Took around 45 minutes total for refinancing my car. Everything was handled online and by phone. Didn't need to sign anything in person.

My representative was super helpful getting my refinance done. Their goal was securing me a better interest rate and they delivered.

Caribou hooked me up with a way better rate through a credit union which was great. But they screwed up big time by listing themselves as the lienholder on my title instead of my actual credit union who's the real lender/lienholder! Discovered this when I tried selling my car and couldn't because of their massive error. I've contacted Caribou repeatedly through calls and emails. Keep getting told someone from their title department will reach out in 24-48hrs, and guess what nobody's called me back all week. They need to correct this immediately since I was supposed to sell my car a week ago after already buying a new one. But now my CarMax offer expired because of this title mess! CarMax can't pay off my loan to Caribou! Caribou shouldn't be the lienholder and until they remove themselves I'm stuck with my car. Plus my lender never got the electronic title for my vehicle (in California) probably since Caribou has it! This has been incredibly frustrating and I'm losing money because of their carelessness. Buyer beware!!! Just go directly to a credit union for refinancing airobmbnmm. ẞ

Super simple refinance process

Everyone was FANTASTIC especially Mary Robinson. Mary was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, pleasant and just an AMAZING person. Everything went smoothly, quickly, and effortlessly. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Caribou. Don't change a thing!!

Wouldn't even give 1 star but couldn't proceed without it so... JOKE this company is GARBAGE!! I'm furious with them.. Got treated horribly from the start I was told my loan was approved 3 months ago got my approval rates payments everything and now 3 months later my credit score dropped because this company pulled my credit who knows how many times and left me short for Christmas for my children and everything else because they promised the paperwork was being mailed and my car payment would be adjusted since then I've made 3 payments and not to mention all the other things u guys tried making me cancel like bumper to bumper warranties n coverage thank God I ignored the people I talked to.. this is absolutely insane and I wouldn't recommend anyone to this place.. u wasted my time and also tons of my money n what I believed was a legit company is just a made up pile of crap!

Every person I talked with was pleasant and ready to assist. Anything I needed clarification on or wanted explained better they were more than willing to go over it again. I have zero complaints about the service I received. Would absolutely recommend Caribou to my friends and family if they're looking to refinance.

Honestly wasn't sure about Caribou at first since I'd never come across them before. A quick look on Google confirmed they're legitimate though. Man, they really delivered, taking care of most of the documentation and making refinancing a breeze for me. The entire thing was surprisingly simple. I'd tell anyone to give them a shot.

Everything was quick and straightforward.

Warning. These guys pull bait and switch moves, burying everything in asterisks and tiny print when confronted about it. An honest outfit would just make a real offer and stick to it, but these con artists don't operate that way. They mail me a refinance offer for my truck at a specific rate, then once I try to accept it, suddenly it's "we need additional truck details." Keep in mind, this is a brand new truck, and they already got the VIN through credit karma before making any offer, plus they knew my credit score (764). This whole charade ends with them acting like they just "found out" that the payoff amount, which was actually lower than their original offer, was somehow "too high" and I'd have to pay it down $4k before they could offer me a higher interest rate AND higher monthly payment than what they initially proposed. Basically wasted my time and put a hard inquiry on my credit just to tell me they think I paid too much for my truck, which, newsflash, isn't my call. Go complain to Dodge if new trucks are too expensive, I'll back you up, I don't control truck pricing. I'm also reporting them to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Probably won't amount to anything, but we'll find out.

Fast and simple

I checked out refinance possibilities for my truck and found some options that looked promising. I turned in all necessary documents and I'm still waiting to hear back about that refi. I also looked into refinancing my car, but the terms weren't good, so I didn't finish that application (and their website has no way to "cancel" an application you've started). Since I left the car application incomplete, I've gotten multiple phone calls and texts daily, all seemingly pushing me to complete the car refinance. I haven't received ANY follow-up on the truck refi I actually want to move forward with. Really disappointed with this whole thing so far. I'm now waiting impatiently for a proper email response from them about the refinance I actually care about and ignoring their calls about finishing my other application. Be warned.

Absolutely the best

Caribou took our auto refinance process and made it way simpler than we imagined possible. Outstanding communication and super professional throughout.

Did a refinance on my car through them. Was told I'd receive refunds for the warranty and GAP from my previous loan. The new lender informed me the warranty transfers so there wouldn't be any rebate. Tried reaching out to Caribou and couldn't get through to anybody. No one returned my calls or emails. If there was no response initially why would I expect one now.

Completed the application, received approval, and got assigned to a particular employee. She mentioned needing to call Capitol One to transfer our loan. That was a month ago. We've been calling repeatedly multiple times. The guy answering says this employee is always unavailable. Her supervisor isn't available either. Nobody's ever available. Does anyone actually work there??? Absolutely ridiculous. You pulled my credit, approved our refinance to help us save money, then just ghost us?? Wtf.

Fast and simple

Completely misleading - they give you an attractive initial quote then show you something entirely different down the road. My service agent had really poor communication abilities and kept pushing things I didn't want. Don't waste your time or money here.

Good communication matters when you're talking to someone on the phone and I was really blown away by how at ease and comfortable I was chatting with your rep. He came across as very confident, well-prepared, and personable. It felt more like talking with a friend than dealing with a loan officer. Just an awesome experience that I would've appreciated even without getting approved for the loan.

First off it's been more than a month and I'm still going back and forth with them. they asked for w2s and pay stubs which makes sense but now they're requesting tomorrow's paystub that doesn't even exist yet what a joke and keep in mind my credit score is 750

The person I talked to was really friendly, though only moderately helpful. I was doing a car refinance, but nobody mentioned I could put money down to reduce my payment and maybe get a better interest rate. The rep just showed me one choice of extending my payoff period to lower my payment. I would've liked the choice to put money down for a shorter purchase term with a lower payment, but that wasn't offered. Because of this I probably won't be using Caribou in the future.

Wait times on the phone are insanely long (over 1 hour). They refinanced my loan and my previous lender sent them an overpayment and it's been nearly 4 months with them holding onto the check. I've emailed and called support but zero follow-up. Horrible service across the board. Would never use them again. Just a warning to anyone refinancing, after you're finished, they don't care about you and your loan gets transferred to a servicer

We completed the whole process for refinancing my car loan. They offered me solid options and pricing. Got through the contract signing and all the paperwork and photos just for them to say at the very end they can't refinance it due to it being a branded title. So, my credit took a hit and I wasted several days for nothing.
